This program provides financial support for interdisciplinary research teams led by UC tenure-track and research faculty.  Two $125,000 awards will be given and the winning team is expected to have a minimum of three lead Investigators from three distinctly different disciplines with faculty appointments in a minimum of two different Colleges.  This initial announcement will focus on interdisciplinary research that overlaps with the following areas:  environment (exposure), health, and sensing.  Subsequent announcements will follow for FY 2016 (one per year with the opportunity for currently funded research teams to obtain an additional 6 months of funding) in different research focus areas.  The funding is meant as a springboard for preparation and growth of research teams to be able to successfully respond to large, multi-million dollar interdisciplinary research funding opportunities.
